Birchip - Mallee participants’ feedback included:

The Sustainable Farm Families workshop was held at Minyip, a small rural town in the Wimmera region of Victoria on March 27th –28th 2007. The area is predominantly broad acre cropping, with some sheep grazing. Dunmunkle Health Services was keen to conduct the program, as this area has been badly affected by the drought in recent years. The workshop was organised by Dianne Knoll of Dunmunkle Health Services, supported by Community Health Nurses from Balmoral Bush Nursing Centre, Inglewood and District Health Services, East Wimmera Health Service and West Wimmera Health Service. Andrew Smith from East Grampians Health Service provided support on behalf of Western District Health Service. The participants all rated the program highly, finding it interesting and enjoyable. The catering demonstrated that great tasting food can also be healthy and everyone was happy to recommend the program to other farmers.

Minyip - March 27 & 28 - Dunmunkle Health Service

Birchip - Mallee March 15 & 16
16 participants and five trainers saw the first Sustainable Farm Families program held at the Birchip Cropping Group, Birchip. The program was organised by Bev Koops and Kerry Wood from the East Wimmera Health Service and supported by other SFF Trainers from West Wimmera Health Service, Inglewood Health Service  and Dunmunkle Health Service.  The venue was excellent and the support from the other health services provided a great opportunity for putting the SFF learning into practice.

The catering also provided an excellent example of healthy eating and how good food choices taste really great.

Lismore – South West 22& 23 March
14 participants, three trainers, two observers, a phenomenal dust storm and a power black out resulted in an interesting but successful Sustainable Farm Families Program at the Southwest West Health Care Lismore campus on March 22 and 23. The SFF program was organised by Jenny Hirth, Lismore Campus Coordinator and supported by Catherine Loria SWHC Macarthur Campus, Adrian Calvano Western District Health Service. Wonderful catering was provided by the Lismore Auxiliary, promoting a good example of healthy food choices.
